Richard Nicoll wins Bronze Medal at Yardley National 2014

Richard Nicoll's image of a Cuckoo flying amongst the reeds has been awarded a Bronze medal in the Yardely Photographic Society's National Exhibition 2014. His image of a Great Crested Grebe with its chick was also Highly Commended.



Wildlife Trust's License images for 2015 Calendar & Christmas Card

The Royal Society of Wildlife Trust's have licensed an image of a Marsh Harrier landing in a reedbed (taken at the National Trust's Wicken Fen reserve) for their 2015 Calendar (November) along with an image of a hare running in the snow for a Christmas card.

Richard Nicoll has won a Selector's Silver Medal for "Brown Hare running in the Snow" and a Highly Commended for "Common Cuckoo flying amongst reeds" at the Shrewsbury Open Photography Exhibition 2014.



Richard Nicoll wins Gold Medal and 3 other awards at Great Barr National

Richard Nicoll's print of the Cuckoo flying amongst the reeds at Wicken Fen has been awarded the PAGB Gold Medal at the Great Barr Open BPE Exhibition. Richard also won two Selector's awards, one for a print of a Cuckoo flying with a caterpillar and one for an image showing two Canada Geese fighting. A mono image of a Coot running on water was also commended.

Richard Nicoll achieves BPE 3* Award

Richard Nicoll has been awarded the British Photographic Exhibitions 3 Crown award after having 100 acceptances in British national photography exhibitions. Richard gained 32 awards including 11 medals three of which were PAGB Gold over the 100 acceptances.

Richard Nicoll wins four awards at the Beyond Group National Exhibition 2014

Richard Nicoll has been awarded a Selector's Medal and won a further three Highly Commended awards at the Beyond Group 7th National Exhibition 2014. Liz Cutting chose the image "Brown Hare running in the Snow" for her Selector's award and "Cuckoo flying amongst Reeds", "Cuckoo flying with Caterpillar" and "Little Egret eating prawn" were all Highly Commended.

Richard Nicoll has been awarded an MCPF Selector's Medal for his image of a Brown Hare running in the snow with all four paws off the ground and an FIAP Ribbon for his image of a Cuckoo flying amongst the reeds at The MIDLAND SALON 65th International Exhibition of Photography.

Richard Nicoll gets two acceptances at Edinburgh International

Richard Nicoll's images of a Cuckoo flying amongst the reeds at the National Trust's Wicken Fen nature reserve and of a Hare running in the snow have both been accepted in the 152nd Edinburgh International Exhibition of Photography - 2014. This exhibition is one of the hardest to get into as they accepted only 202 images from several thousand entries. The exhibition is held during the Edinburgh International Festival between Sunday 3rd August and Sunday 31st August.



Iris Magazine publishes new article on suspect nature images in International Exhibitions

Richard Nicoll has had a new article about investigations into suspect images in International Exhibitions published in the Royal Photographic Society Nature Group's magazine "The Iris". This article is a follow up from a previous one and updates readers on the size and scale of the problem, highlights just a few of the images and the awards they have won and finally gives a call for exhibition organisers and patronisers to do more to combat the problem.

Richard Nicoll gains EFIAP Distinction
03rd June 2014
Richard Nicoll has been awarded the Excellence FIAP (The International Federation of Photographic Art) distinction for gaining over 250 acceptances, with over 50 different images, in over 30 different exhibitions in over 20 different countries. Although it is not a requirement to do so Richard also gained 33 different awards including 5 Gold Medals.

Cuckoo Image shown live on BBC Springwatch

Richard Nicoll's image of a Cuckoo with a caterpillar in its beak was shown live on the BBC's Springwatch programme (broadcast on 2014-05-29) to illustrate how a Cuckoo appears to mimic a Sparrowhawk as part of its evolutionary battle with its host species.
